Better Entropy Towards a Future Tomorrow

“Stop Listening To Soundcloud Rap. It’s Garbage,”

said the old fart who thought he was still cool. But seriously, my friend Darby was trying to explain to me how, before Lil Peep OD’ed, he was subverting the mainstream, and how Soundcloud was going to allow artists to sell their music without corporate interference, or some shit along those lines, and I was like, “Yeah, that’s cool, but his music is still terrible.” Pretty much all sad boi rap, that isn’t Yung Lean, is godawful. I’m saying this now so that readers don’t get hooked, only to find out years later that I think XXXtentacion was a whiny boohole face, and lose their shit. I dunno, maybe I just don’t like Benzos.

This is the first post on my new blog. I’m just getting this new blog going, so stay tuned for more. Subscribe below to get notified when I post new updates.

Opinions and assholes, right? I thought taking a cheap shot at emo rap would be a fun, controversial way to kick things off. However, I would have been remiss in my duties as a blogger were I to not take one final jaunt through Youtube’s #Souncloudrap catalog. So, I checked out some Juice WRLD, “Bandits” and was like, alright. Spent some time with the radio cut, “Lucid Dreams” and had to catch my breath. I browsed some more, still not feeling the Peep. Then, I watched the video for XXXtentacion’s “Moonlight” and my fucking heart melted. I just dropped to floor, crying in anguish, “Too soon, too soon! You took him from us, you bastards!” I’m sorry I ever hated, it was shitty of me, but I think I can explain why. Hip hop belongs to the youth and I am no longer quite that. I try as hard as I can to keep my music current, relevant and informed, but I can’t compete with a teenager who is living the new struggle, different from what I went through, growing up closer to the end of civilization than I. Each subsequent generation rejects and is rejected by the youth culture that replaces it. Unless, maybe we can just squash the beef from the get go. If I’m being totally honest, about 6 years ago, me and MC SMSTCK started a group, called Buck Sad, that trafficked solely in living room, sad boi freestyles. I want face tattoos, too, but give me something really ratchet, like Ninja from Die Antwoord, or Mike Tyson, or Brooke Candy.

The bottom line is this: #Soundcloudrap shit goes deeper than I originally thought, fam. Like little kids with fidget spinners getting exploited, kinda deep. It’s a record company conspiracy to harvest talent with the shortest lifespan and marketing suicide culture, kinda deep. I need to look further into this phenomenon and get back to you when I have all the facts. In the meantime, keep bumping “Sad!” and remember, kids, hugs not drugs and slugs are bugs.

“Push me to the edge. All my friends are dead.”
